a. Regular Responsibilities:
Provides comprehensive care to neonates, infants, children and adolescents with different disease Duties at the Health Facility:
· Registering and conducting Growth Monitoring and Promotion (GMP), including measurement of weight, height, and age of children under two years of age
· Providing GMP-based counseling to mothers/caregivers of children under two on appropriate Infant, Young Child, and Maternal Nutrition (MIYCN) and prevention of malnutrition
· If the child’s condition is not normal, encouraging and counseling mothers/caregivers to improve and strengthen appropriate maternal and child feeding practices
· Referring children suffering from acute malnutrition to the health facility doctor for appropriate treatment and counseling
· Counseling mothers/caregivers about their children under two years of age for monthly GMP follow-up visits to the health facility
· Checking whether the child has received Vitamin A during previously
· If Vitamin A has not been received, inform the doctor for supplementation
· Providing daily health education to mothers
Maternal Nutrition Counseling:
· Conducting food demonstration sessions
· Providing counseling on BMI (Body Mass Index) and MUAC
· Assessing the nutritional status of mothers during the first three months after delivery
· Referring mothers with anemia or other health problems to the doctor for diagnosis and treatment
b. Periodic Responsibilities
· Participating in monthly meetings with the team
· Providing guidance to colleagues on GMP, counseling skills, and health education topics
· Conducting need assessments and plan accordingly
Recording and Reporting:
· Preparing regular reports for monitoring and follow-up of nutrition service delivery
· Use the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Handbook at health facilities
· Document relevant information as assigned
Qualification and Education:
· Having degree or Diploma in nursing from a recognized institution
· Be registered with ANMC
Work experience:
· 1-2 years of work experience in malnutrition and counseling
Knowledge and competencies (State skills, abilities & traits required)
· Ability to speak local languages (Dari and Pashto) and communicate effectively
