Job Summary:

The Ultrasound Specialist is responsible for providing quality ultrasound diagnostic services, ensuring accurate patient assessment, reporting findings to clinicians, maintaining service records, managing ultrasound-

generated revenue, and preparing timely service and financial reports. The position ensures compliance with AFGA clinical, financial, and administrative policies while contributing to improved maternal, newborn,

reproductive health, and general healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities

Ultrasound Service Delivery:

 ·         Perform ultrasound examinations and diagnostic imaging services in accordance with approved clinical standards, protocols, and professional guidelines.

 ·         Conduct ultrasound assessments as requested by clinicians and provide accurate findings to support diagnosis, treatment, and patient management

 ·         Ensure all examinations are carried out safely, professionally, and in line with quality standards and patient care requirements.

         ·         Provide accurate and timely ultrasound reports to treating clinicians.

         ·         Ensure patient privacy, dignity, confidentiality, and informed consent during examinations.

          ·         Refer patients for further assessment or specialist consultation when necessary.

       Financial Management and Revenue Collection:

·         Collect ultrasound service fees according to the approved AFGA fee schedule.

·         Issue official receipts for all payments received from patients.

·         Maintain accurate daily records of all fees collected.

·         Ensure proper handling, safeguarding, and accountability of collected funds.

·         Deposit all ultrasound-generated revenue into the designated AFGA bank account in accordance with AFGA financial procedures.

·         Maintain records of deposits and submit supporting documentation to project manager and finance departments.

·         Immediately report any discrepancies or financial irregularities to the project manager.

     Data Management and Reporting:

·         Maintain accurate daily records of all ultrasound examinations conducted.

·         Update ultrasound registers and service databases on a daily basis.

·         Prepare and submit daily service utilization reports and income reports.

·         Prepare and submit monthly service statistics and income reports.

·         Support HMIS reporting requirements and ensure data quality and completeness.

·         Ensure confidentiality and secure storage of patient and financial records.

Equipment Management and Quality Assurance:

·         Ensure proper operation, cleaning, and maintenance of ultrasound equipment.

·         Monitor equipment functionality and report technical issues promptly.

·         Prepare and submit timely logistics and procurement requests for ultrasound-related equipment, supplies, consumables, stationary, HMIS tools and office materials to ensure uninterrupted service delivery.

·         Ensure availability and proper use of ultrasound consumables and supplies.

·         Follow infection prevention and control protocols at all times.

 Coordination and Capacity Building:

·         Maintain good coordination and communication with hospital and FWC staff.

·         Participate in staff meetings, case reviews, and technical discussions.

·         Provide technical guidance and orientation to relevant staff when required.

·         Support implementation of AFGA health programs and activities as assigned.

Job requirements

·         Medical Doctor (MD), Specialization in Ultrasound. (Sonologist )

·         Valid certification or specialized course in Ultrasound.

·         Minimum of 3 – 5 years of relevant experience in ultrasound diagnostics.

·         Experience working with NGOs in public health/management field will be plus point.
