The WASH Project Manager will be responsible for the overall management, planning, coordination, technical oversight, quality assurance, monitoring and evaluation, reporting, and compliance of the project. The position will lead project implementation, provide technical guidance and supervision to project teams, ensure quality and timely delivery of activities, and maintain effective coordination with KRO HQ, government authorities, WASH Cluster partners, communities, and other relevant stakeholders. The Project Manager will ensure that all project activities are implemented in accordance with approved plans, donor requirements, organizational policies, and relevant WASH standards.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall management and leadership of KRO’s mission and WASH activities in the Southern Region.

  • Coordinate effectively with local authorities, NGOs, donors, WASH Cluster partners, and other relevant stakeholders.

  • Support anticipatory action, early warning analysis, and preparedness related to WASH needs and risks.

  • Provide technical oversight for WASH project design, including water supply schemes, pipeline networks, and related infrastructure.

  • Regularly participate in WASH Cluster meetings and maintain familiarity with relevant WASH Cluster standards, guidelines, and mandates.

  • Lead overall project management and implementation while supporting the Program Department in coordination with implementing partners, government line departments, and other stakeholders.

  • Work under the direct supervision of the Program Department and maintain close coordination with KRO HQ, including regular reporting and technical updates.

  • Ensure effective management and utilization of project resources to achieve humanitarian and development objectives, deliverables, indicators, and donor commitments.

  • In coordination with the Regional Admin/Finance Officer, regularly monitor project activities and expenditures and develop corrective action plans for any over- or under-spending.

  • Conduct regular field visits and support ongoing project monitoring to ensure quality, compliance, and progress against targets.

  • Prepare and contribute to technical reports, graphical data presentations, needs and gaps analyses, planning, risk assessments, and development plans.

  • Identify program gaps and areas for improvement and support adaptation of project design to respond effectively to beneficiary needs and changing contexts.

  • Ensure that project files and documentation are maintained in accordance with KRO and donor requirements, including the confidentiality and protection of beneficiary data.

  • Promote integration and coordination of project activities across sectors, including WASH, Protection/GBV, and ES/NFI.

  • Support teams in conducting needs assessments and market assessments, as appropriate, to inform project planning and implementation.

  • Represent KRO in relevant meetings with field partners, implementing partners, donors, government authorities, and cluster/coordination forums.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with local authorities, community representatives, and other relevant stakeholders.

  • Strengthen accountability by ensuring that feedback from beneficiaries and stakeholders is considered throughout all stages of the project cycle.

  • Promote meaningful participation of beneficiaries and communities, particularly vulnerable and at-risk groups, where appropriate.

  • Ensure that project activities are incorporated into project M&E plans and supervise their implementation.

  • Provide technical inputs and data to support the Program Department in developing project proposals, annual plans, and other technical documents for submission to KRO HQ.

  • Support and oversee Post-Distribution Monitoring (PDM) activities as required.

  • Build the capacity of project personnel and support them in developing and implementing community cohesion initiatives.

  • Ensure compliance with KRO policies, donor requirements, humanitarian principles, and relevant WASH standards.

Job requirements

·     Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Water Supply, Construction Engineering, WASH Engineering, or another relevant field. Preference will be given to candidates with specialized WASH qualifications.

·     07 Years of Extensive Experience in Water Supply Project and at least 5 years of experience in NNGOs, INGOS, UN, or in WASH sector/Cluster.

·    Proven professional experience in WASH project implementation, water supply, construction, project design, and/or rural development within the humanitarian or development sector.

·         Previous experience in a similar position, such as WASH Manager, WASH Specialist, or Water Supply/Construction Manager.

·         Proven experience in project/program development, monitoring, reporting, and coordination.

·         Previous experience working with the WASH Cluster and/or relevant UN agencies is highly desirable.

·     Excellent written and spoken English language skills. Candidates will be required to complete professional/academic writing and English fluency tests as part of the HR recruitment process.

·         Successful completion of the required technical test is mandatory and forms part of the recruitment process.

·         Demonstrated management, coordination, leadership, and team-building skills.

·         Strong analytical, planning, reporting, and problem-solving abilities.

·         Excellent communication, cooperation, and interpersonal skills.

·         Ability to build the capacity of project personnel and provide effective technical guidance.
