Responsible for the design, analysis, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of mechanical systems and equipment throughout the project lifecycle. Key responsibilities include developing mechanical designs, equipment specifications, material selection, piping and HVAC layouts, pump and compressor sizing, fire protection systems, and plumbing networks. Prepares technical calculations, heat load estimations, pressure drop analyses, equipment schedules, and system flow diagrams. Reviews and prepares mechanical shop drawings, as-built drawings, material submittals, RFIs, and technical queries. Coordinates with structural, electrical, civil, and architectural teams to ensure proper integration of mechanical systems with overall project design. Ensures compliance with project specifications, international codes (such as ASME, ASHRAE, NFPA, and IPC), and local regulatory requirements. Participates in site inspections, testing and commissioning activities, system start-ups, and performance verification. Supports procurement and commercial teams in technical evaluation of suppliers, preparation of BOQs, cost estimates, and variation proposals. Liaises with clients, consultants, and subcontractors to resolve technical issues and ensure smooth project execution. Maintains high standards of quality, safety, and documentation in accordance with project requirements and applicable standards.
• Design, analyze, and size mechanical systems including HVAC, piping, plumbing, fire protection, and pump stations in accordance with project specifications and international codes.
• Prepare mechanical equipment specifications, data sheets, material selection, and system layouts.
• Develop heat load calculations, pressure drop analyses, flow diagrams, and equipment schedules.
• Prepare, review, and coordinate mechanical shop drawings, as-built drawings, and installation details.
• Prepare and submit RFIs, material submittals, technical queries, and method statements related to mechanical works.
• Coordinate with structural, civil, electrical, and architectural teams to ensure proper integration of mechanical systems.
• Review tender documents, BOQs, specifications, and scope of work to identify mechanical requirements and discrepancies.
• Prepare cost estimates, BOQs, quantity take-offs, and variation proposals for mechanical scopes of work.
• Supervise and inspect site installation, testing, commissioning, and system start-up activities.
• Coordinate with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors for equipment procurement, technical evaluation, and delivery schedules.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, and project teams to resolve technical issues and ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
• Ensure all mechanical installations comply with quality standards, safety regulations, and project specifications.
• Prepare progress reports, inspection requests, and close-out documentation for mechanical systems.
• Maintain accurate and controlled mechanical documentation including design changes, approvals, and test records.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related Engineering discipline.
• Minimum 5-10 years of relevant experience in mechanical design, construction, engineering, tendering, and project documentation.
• Strong experience in preparing mechanical technical proposals, tenders, BOQs, RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, as-built drawings, invoices, variations, and claims.
• Good knowledge of mechanical systems (HVAC, piping, plumbing, fire protection, pumps), construction methods, technical specifications, quantity take-offs, and contract requirements.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office, and Microsoft Excel; familiarity with document control systems is an advantage.
• Knowledge of international codes (ASME, ASHRAE, NFPA, IPC) and FIDIC contracts, project documentation, and contract administration is preferred.
• Strong technical writing, analytical, coordination, communication, and documentation management skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple deadlines, and coordinate effectively with clients, consultants, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
• Strong command of English, both written and verbal; knowledge of Dari and/or Pashto is an advantage.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related Engineering discipline.
• 5–10 years of relevant experience in mechanical design, tendering, construction documentation, and project coordination.
• Proven experience in mechanical BOQ preparation, quantity take-offs, RFIs, technical submittals, shop drawings, as-built drawings, invoices, variations, and claims.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems (HVAC, piping, plumbing, fire protection, pumps), construction standards, technical specifications, and FIDIC contract principles.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and advanced Excel.
• Excellent technical writing, analytical, communication, coordination, and documentation management skills.
• Strong command of English; proficiency in Dari and/or Pashto is an advantage.
• Ability to work independently, meet strict deadlines, and manage multiple technical and commercial deliverables.
