About the job

The AML / Transaction Monitoring Senior Officer is responsible for monitoring customer transactions and account activities to identify potential money laundering, terrorist financing, sanctions violations, fraud, and other suspicious activities. The position supports the Bank’s AML/CFT compliance framework by reviewing transaction monitoring alerts, conducting investigations, documenting findings, escalating suspicious activities, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.

Duties & responsibilities

As AML/Transaction Monitoring Senior Officer you are responsible to:

1.  Assessing AML/CFT risk of banks and financial institutions before establishing relationship.

2.  Reviewing of alerts on daily bases and as per assigned parameter set in OFSAA AML system.

3.  Review of all source of fund document on daily basis.

4.  Handling & escalation for closure of generated alerts to AML/TM team leader Chief compliance and DY Chief Compliance Officer through OFSAA.

5.  Transactions monitoring on Bank vide basis covering all transactions of customers in line with standard Transaction monitoring procedure in OFSAA.

6.  Escalation of alerts to the related branches for their feedback & supporting documents.

7.  Properly follow up of alerts with branches for closure of alerts within time frame.

8.  Reviewing of alerts along with supporting documents in order to find out STRs.

9.  Establishing trail for confirming the source/destination of funds received from Branches as a supporting document for Alerts.

10. SWIFT, ATM & Western Union transactions monitoring as per defined Procedure.

11. Preparation of consolidated MIS related to all activities performed such as Alerts handling, escalation.

12.    STR Reporting.

13. Investigates such alerts and referrals and files STRs with the appropriate financial intelligence unit (FIU) as required.

14. Acting on accounts where STR report e.g. change customer risk category.

15. Follow up on any failure delivery status or observations raised by FinTRACA for STR reporting.

16. Reporting of any STRs to Western Union.

17. Monitors alerts generated on customer transactions, such as those from automated systems and referrals from line of business staff.

18.  Establish a contribution-free system for branch staff to report suspected activities/transactions.

19.  Performed any other task which assigned By Chief Compliance officer.

Job requirements

Educational Qualifications

•Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Law, Business Administration, or a related field.

•Certification in CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist) or a related compliance Certification is preferred.

Experience Required

•Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in anti-money laundering, compliance, or transaction monitoring within a financial institution.

•Familiarity with AML regulations, transaction monitoring processes, and financial crime prevention.

Competencies Required

•Thorough knowledge of AML laws and regulations, including sanction lists and counter-terrorism financing frameworks.

•Expertise in transaction monitoring systems and techniques to detect and investigate suspicious activities.

•Strong analytical skills to assess and interpret large volumes of financial data.

•Proficiency in compliance reporting tools and software applications.

•Ability to draft detailed reports and communicate findings to senior management and regulators effectively.

•Attention to detail and accuracy in analyzing flagged transactions.
