About the job

Responsible for the design, analysis, and execution of civil engineering works throughout the project lifecycle. Key responsibilities include site investigation, earthworks, foundation design, structural analysis, concrete and steel structures, roadworks, drainage systems, and water supply networks. Prepares technical calculations, quantity take-offs, material specifications, and structural drawings. Reviews and prepares civil shop drawings, as-built drawings, material submittals, RFIs, and technical queries. Coordinates with structural, electrical, mechanical, and architectural teams to ensure proper integration of civil works with overall project design. Ensures compliance with project specifications, international codes (such as ACI, AISC, ASCE, and local building standards), and regulatory requirements. Participates in site inspections, quality control, testing, and handover activities. Supports procurement and commercial teams in technical evaluation of suppliers, preparation of BOQs, cost estimates, and variation proposals. Liaises with clients, consultants, and subcontractors to resolve technical issues and ensure smooth project execution. Maintains high standards of quality, safety, and documentation in accordance with project requirements and applicable standards.

Duties & responsibilities

  • Design, analyze, and size civil works including foundations, concrete and steel structures, earthworks, roadworks, drainage systems, and water supply networks in accordance with project specifications and international codes.

  • Prepare civil equipment and material specifications, data sheets, and system layouts.

  • Develop structural calculations, load assessments, quantity take-offs, and construction drawings.

  • Prepare, review, and coordinate civil shop drawings, as-built drawings, and installation details.

  • Prepare and submit RFIs, material submittals, technical queries, and method statements related to civil works.

  • Coordinate with structural, mechanical, electrical, and architectural teams to ensure proper integration of civil systems.

  • Review tender documents, BOQs, specifications, and scope of work to identify civil requirements and discrepancies.

  • Prepare cost estimates, BOQs, quantity take-offs, and variation proposals for civil scopes of work.

  • Supervise and inspect site installation, earthworks, concreting, structural works, and finishing activities.

  • Coordinate with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors for material procurement, technical evaluation, and delivery schedules.

  • Liaise with clients, consultants, and project teams to resolve technical issues and ensure compliance with contractual requirements.

  • Ensure all civil installations comply with quality standards, safety regulations, and project specifications.

  • Prepare progress reports, inspection requests, and close-out documentation for civil works.

  • Maintain accurate and controlled civil documentation including design changes, approvals, and test records.

Job requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related Engineering discipline.

  • Minimum 5-10 years of relevant experience in civil design, construction, engineering, tendering, and project documentation.

  • Strong experience in preparing civil technical proposals, tenders, BOQs, RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, as-built drawings, invoices, variations, and claims.

  • Good knowledge of civil systems (foundations, concrete and steel structures, earthworks, roadworks, drainage, water supply), construction methods, technical specifications, quantity take-offs, and contract requirements.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office, and Microsoft Excel; familiarity with document control systems is an advantage.

  • Knowledge of international codes (ACI, AISC, ASCE) and FIDIC contracts, project documentation, and contract administration is preferred.

  • Strong technical writing, analytical, coordination, communication, and documentation management skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple deadlines, and coordinate effectively with clients, consultants, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams.

  • Strong command of English, both written and verbal; knowledge of Dari and/or Pashto is an advantage.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related Engineering discipline.

  • 5–10 years of relevant experience in civil design, tendering, construction documentation, and project coordination.

  • Proven experience in civil BOQ preparation, quantity take-offs, RFIs, technical submittals, shop drawings, as-built drawings, invoices, variations, and claims.

  • Strong knowledge of civil systems (foundations, concrete and steel structures, earthworks, roadworks, drainage, water supply), construction standards, technical specifications, and FIDIC contract principles.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and advanced Excel.

  • Excellent technical writing, analytical, communication, coordination, and documentation management skills.

  • Strong command of English; proficiency in Dari and/or Pashto is an advantage.

  • Ability to work independently, meet strict deadlines, and manage multiple technical and commercial deliverables.
