Responsible for the design, analysis, and management of hydrological and water-related engineering works throughout the project lifecycle. Key responsibilities include hydrological assessments, watershed management, flood risk analysis, drainage and stormwater system design, groundwater studies, surface water management, irrigation system design, deep well drilling design, borehole development, wellfield analysis, pumping test interpretation, and groundwater resource evaluation. Prepares technical reports, hydrological models, water balance calculations, quantity take-offs, deep well specifications, well pump sizing, and borehole design layouts. Reviews and prepares hydrological shop drawings, as-built drawings, material submittals, RFIs, and technical queries. Coordinates with civil, structural, electrical, and mechanical teams to ensure proper integration of hydrological systems with overall project design. Ensures compliance with project specifications, international codes, and local regulatory requirements. Participates in site inspections, water quality testing, flow measurements, aquifer testing, and system handover activities. Supports procurement and commercial teams in technical evaluation of suppliers, preparation of BOQs, cost estimates, and variation proposals. Liaises with clients, consultants, and subcontractors to resolve technical issues and ensure smooth project execution. Maintains high standards of quality, safety, and documentation in accordance with project requirements and applicable standards.
Conduct hydrological assessments, watershed studies, and flood risk analyses for project sites.
Design drainage systems, stormwater management networks, surface water and groundwater collection systems, and irrigation systems in accordance with project specifications and international standards.
Design deep wells, boreholes, and groundwater extraction systems in accordance with hydrogeological data and project requirements.
Conduct aquifer tests, pumping tests, and well performance evaluations to determine sustainable yield and water quality.
Prepare well drilling specifications, pump selection criteria, and borehole completion reports.
Supervise deep well drilling, well development, screen installation, and gravel packing operations on site.
Evaluate groundwater resources, water table fluctuations, and recharge potential for project water supply.
Develop hydrological models, water balance calculations, flow simulations, and water quality assessments.
Prepare hydrological equipment and material specifications, data sheets, and system layouts.
Prepare, review, and coordinate hydrological shop drawings, as-built drawings, and installation details.
Prepare and submit RFIs, material submittals, technical queries, and method statements related to hydrological works.
Coordinate with civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical teams to ensure proper integration of hydrological systems.
Review tender documents, BOQs, specifications, and scope of work to identify hydrological requirements and discrepancies.
Prepare cost estimates, BOQs, quantity take-offs, and variation proposals for hydrological scopes of work.
Supervise and inspect site installation, flow measurement, water quality testing, and system commissioning activities.
Coordinate with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors for equipment and material procurement, technical evaluation, and delivery schedules.
Liaise with clients, consultants, and project teams to resolve technical issues and ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
Ensure all hydrological installations comply with quality standards, safety regulations, and project specifications.
Prepare progress reports, inspection requests, and close-out documentation for hydrological systems.
Maintain accurate and controlled documentation including design changes, approvals, test records, and water quality reports.
Bachelor's degree in Hydrological Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline.
Minimum 5-10 years of relevant experience in hydrological design, construction, engineering, tendering, and project documentation.
Strong experience in preparing hydrological technical proposals, tenders, BOQs, RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, as-built drawings, invoices, variations, and claims.
Good knowledge of hydrological systems (drainage, stormwater, surface water, groundwater, irrigation, flood control), construction methods, technical specifications, quantity take-offs, and contract requirements.
Experience in deep well design, drilling supervision, pumping test analysis, and groundwater resource evaluation.
Knowledge of well drilling methods (rotary, percussion, air lift), well screen selection, and pump installation.
Proficiency in hydrological modeling software (such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWMM), AutoCAD, MS Office, and Microsoft Excel; familiarity with GIS is an advantage.
Familiarity with hydrogeological software (Aquifer Test, MODFLOW, or similar) is an advantage.
Knowledge of international standards and FIDIC contracts, project documentation, and contract administration is preferred.
Strong technical writing, analytical, coordination, communication, and documentation management skills.
Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple deadlines, and coordinate effectively with clients, consultants, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
Strong command of English, both written and verbal; knowledge of Dari and/or Pashto is an advantage
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Hydrological Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline.
5–10 years of relevant experience in hydrological design, tendering, construction documentation, and project coordination.
Proven experience in hydrological BOQ preparation, quantity take-offs, RFIs, technical submittals, shop drawings, as-built drawings, invoices, variations, and claims.
Strong knowledge of hydrological systems (drainage, stormwater, groundwater, surface water, irrigation, flood protection), construction standards, technical specifications, and FIDIC contract principles.
Experience in deep well design, drilling supervision, pumping test analysis, and groundwater resource evaluation.
Proficiency in hydrological modeling software (HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWMM), AutoCAD, GIS, Microsoft Office, and advanced Excel.
Excellent technical writing, analytical, communication, coordination, and documentation management skills.
Strong command of English; proficiency in Dari and/or Pashto is an advantage.
Ability to work independently, meet strict deadlines, and manage multiple technical and commercial deliverables.
