Senior Electrical Engineer

The Senior Electrical Engineer shall be responsible for the design, design review, technical coordination, construction support, testing, and commissioning of electrical works for power and renewable-energy projects, particularly utility-scale solar PV plants, transmission lines, and substations.

The engineer shall be capable of independently preparing and reviewing electrical designs, calculations, drawings, specifications, and BOQs; identifying technical deficiencies; and providing practical engineering solutions throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Electrical Design and Engineering

·   Prepare and review electrical designs, Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), layouts, schematics, cable schedules, and equipment arrangements.

· Perform and review load-flow, short-circuit, voltage-drop, cable-sizing, transformer-sizing, grounding, lightning protection, and protection-coordination calculations.

·   Prepare equipment specifications, datasheets, technical schedules, and BOQs.

·   Ensure coordination of electrical designs with civil, structural, mechanical, SCADA, and other disciplines.

·   Ensure designs comply with project requirements, applicable standards, and utility requirements.

Utility-Scale Solar PV Projects

· Design and review DC and AC systems of utility-scale PV plants.

·   Review PV module/inverter configurations, string sizing, DC/AC ratios, cables, transformers, switchgear, and MV collection systems.

· Review inverter stations, power evacuation systems, grounding, and lightning protection.

· Review electrical interfaces of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), where applicable.

·   Coordinate PV plant electrical systems with substations, SCADA, plant controllers, and grid-interconnection facilities.

Substation and Transmission-Line Engineering

·   Design and review AIS/GIS substations, transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, CTs, VTs, busbars, protection systems, AC/DC auxiliary systems, and grounding systems.

·   Review protection, control, metering, interlocking, SCADA, and communication requirements.

· Design/review electrical aspects of overhead transmission and distribution lines.

·   Review conductor and OPGW selection, insulation, electrical clearances, grounding, lightning protection, and line losses.

· Coordinate transmission-line interfaces with substations and power plants.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

·   Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electrical power engineering, or a related discipline.

·   A master's degree or professional engineering certification is an advantage.

· Minimum 7-10 years of relevant professional experience in electrical power projects.

· Demonstrated experience in electrical system design and design review.

·   Experience in utility-scale solar PV, MV/HV substations, and/or transmission-line projects.

·   Experience in construction supervision, testing, commissioning, and project implementation is preferred.
